Congrats!

If you're reading this, congratulations. It means you, or someone you care about is about to begin the incredible journey of motherhood. And with it, a love that is truly lasting and unconditional.

The first time I heard about unconditional love from a child, I was doubtful. What do they know about love? I remember being a child myself, barely understanding what love was, all I wanted was to watch TV.

Then I gave birth to my son, and I found myself doubting whether my baby truly loved me. My sister, a social worker herself, stopped me and reminded me: "no matter how our parents treated us, whether we liked them or not, there was always a kind of love that existed. And we never stopped loving them, did we? " That hit me hard. And it comforted me deeply. What a privilege it is to be loved unconditionally by my son.

I once heard that when a parent stops loving their child, the child doesn't stop loving the parent, they stop loving themselves. That truth is both powerful and heartbreaking.

As my little boy learned how to smile, walk, and hug, I saw that no matter how emotionally absent or unstable I was, at the end of the day, he would still walk up to me, smile, and hug me. Seeing how attached he is to me, even his doctor jotted down how clingy he is! I realize how silly my doubts were. A mother's love and a child's love are too precious for words, and I am so grateful to experience that privilege every single day.

I hope every new mama knows that a baby's love is purely unconditional, it's already right there, no matter what.
