The cry of a baby can feel overwhelming, even dreadful. I was fortunate that the hours of non-stop crying only hit hard around my son's second month. But even that one month was enough to test everything I had.
To stop the crying, I found myself falling into a loop: trying every hack, losing my temper, and then sinking into indifference, finally just letting time pass. And I thought to myself: how could I do that to the dearest person to me on earth? But the reality is, non-stop crying is unbearable, and that applies to all ages!
Alongside the exhaustion came anxiety. As a new mom, I worried about everything. Whenever I noticed something wasn't right, different professionals often gave me different points of view. What frustrated me most was being dismissed when all I wanted was clarity and reassurance. And the hardest part was that sometimes, my concerns turned out to be right.
Becoming a mother is huge. I believe it is incredibly difficult for us as new mamas not to feel depressed and anxious under certain circumstances. Sometimes, we may even have negative feelings toward our own children and the role of motherhood itself. I truly believe there is no right or wrong when it comes to emotions, those feelings are just trying to tell you something, or protect you from something. If you are a mom, please be kind to yourself. Take your time to validate, recognize, and respond to those emotions.
